The Eel River winds its way around the park and can be accessed by the hiking trail. The head of the hiking trail can be found behind sites six and seven (see map for location).
The hiking trail is a beautiful natural path that cuts in between ancient giant Redwoods, Tan Oaks, Fir and Madrone trees. When you come to the end of the trail it opens up to a beautiful and secluded scenic section of the Eel River as seen in the first few pictures below. During the summer months the Eel becomes a very warm, slow, meandering river and a nice sand bar appears for the little ones to play in. Also we have two beautiful swimming holes for you and your family to play and have fun in.
